"I don’t want my name to be Starstar, that would be stupid! I want to be called Gleamstar!"
— Stargleam about her leader name in Chapter 16

Gleamstar is a beautiful she-cat with shining purple fur, brilliant rainbow eyes that turn molten-orange when she's sad, and a perfect white star on the top of her forehead.

Gleamstar, also known as Starstar, is the main protagonist of Starkit's Prophecy. She breaks all laws of canon, genetics, and basic common sense, is considered one of the largest Mary Sues of all time, and is adored by everyone (in the story) because she is beautiful and amazing at everything.

History[]

Starkit's Prophecy[]

Starkit was born to Jayfeather and Dawnsparkle, formerly of ShadowClan. Dawnsparkle states that she could be "disliked" due to her heritage, but nobody discriminates her and everyone loves her. She is apprenticed to Firestar, holds off a camp invasion by herself, beats her leader eight times, is comparable to Sandstorm and Scourge in her talents, and catches enough food for everyone in one day without feeling tired at all. (It's also mentioned that, as a kit, she sneaked out of camp with Firestar once to hunt, and that's — also? — why he made her his apprentice.)

Starpaw dreams of becoming leader with Jazzpaw, her best friend, as her deputy. Graystripe later asks the beautiful kitten of perfection to become his mate, and she says yes; however, Firestar overhears their talk and argues with his best friend over who will mate with his great-granddaughter. Starpaw is overwhelmed and accidentally crosses the ShadowClan border, where she meets Blackstar... who is also madly in love with her.

Jayfeather tells his daughter to follow his heart, after recounting his decision of picking Dawnsparkle as a mate over his stick, because he couldn't have kits with the latter. Starpaw decides to confess to her great-grandfather, who holds her warrior ceremony, only the oddly specific 3.14 days after her apprenticeship... because she is the best apprentice of all. Stargleam, now a fresh warrior, is about to confess her love, but before she can do so, Hollyleaf, Tigerstar, and WindClan invade the camp. Hollyleaf kills her brother, Stargleam kills Tigerstar, and Hollyleaf abducts Firestar.

Tigerstar tries to seduce the perfect young warrior into eating yew/deathberries with a newt on it, which makes yew not work. When the newt runs away, Stargleam refuses to eat it, and then Tigerstar abducts her. Stargleam wakes up with Yellowfang of StarClan, and returns to the living world with the Ten Commandments, who she shows to everyone. Stargleam sees Redpaw and Lakepaw kissing and scolds them, them promising to not do it again. Firestar is so admiring of her leadership skills that he decides to step down as leader. Stargleam plans to makes Lionblaze her deputy on her way to the Moonpool, receives her nine lives, and is renamed Gleamstar by Thunderstar, first leader of ThunderClan (which is revealed to be LionClan).

Gleamstar returns to the camp, makes Jazzpaw a warrior named Jazzsong so she can become her deputy, falls in love with Hawkfrost, her great-uncle's half-brother, who she wakes up and announces their marriage to ThunderClan who follow them to the Gathering where they get married, but during their marriage Ashfur interrupts and wants Gleamstar to marry him, who refuses, she is killed nine times by a lightning strike, is reincarnated with Hollyleaf and Tigerstar (Hollyleaf's aunt's mate's father) as her parents (which would make Brambleclaw her half-brother) when everyone's still mourning her past self, and is adopted by Redfur and Lakepool after they die in a big battle between StarClan and the Dark Forest. She dislikes the prospect of having lesbian mothers, but overcomes her homophobic behavior in two seconds and becomes mates with Jazzstar. Stargleam and Jazzstar have three kits, Tigerkit, Firekit, and Fluffykit, even though this is impossible.

Stargleam stays her father-in-reincarnation because her son was kidnapped; she betrays ThunderClan by revealing their camp location to the Dark Forest. However, in the midst of battle, she returns to her kin and sacrifices her entire, (questionably) perfect life energy to disintegrate all evil and restore harmony to the forest.

The Two Siblings[]

Stargleam appears in the prologue and delivers the prophecy, "Crimson maples will block the storm's wrath." Although she is a verified member of StarClan, she clearly was placed in a special area blocked against the rest of the warrior ancestors, because she refers to "StarClan" as a different league.

Personality[]

Gleamstar is noble, brave, and instinctive. She typically makes decisions based on the rules and her emotions, but is unafraid to go against tradition and alter or delete areas of the warrior code out of her own interest. She is completely certain of her own judgment and holds herself with high regard and low expectations and accountability, causing those around her to focus solely on her perfections and talents.

She is determined in certain situations and inconsistent in others; for example, even though she went for the kill without hesitation in the battle against Tigerstar, Hollyleaf, and WindClan, she allowed her own son, Tigerkit, to be captured by the Tigerstar, who she later submitted to without any resistance. This brings her true intentions and understanding of good and evil into question; however, while she leaned to the dark side on that one fateful night, she realized her allegiance in the battle against evil, where she sacrificed her life to restore peace and harmony.

Gleamstar is also strictly traditionalist, but is willing to alter major traditions for her vision of a "good" life. She sees treason in the LGBTQ+ community and adheres strongly to the warrior code and StarClan, even when their orders seem downright outrageous. Despite this, she alters her vision of community to add in lesbians, gays, and bisexuals when she herself is revealed to be lesbian; she replaces the warrior code with the Ten Commandments to suit her own will; she receives a psychological breakdown and rejects StarClan for the Dark Forest to bring her son to light.

Relationships[]

Dawnsparkle and Jayfeather[]

Gleamstar has a deep and loving connection with her mother and father. She is loyal and understanding towards Dawnsparkle, calmly accepting her forbidden relationship; meanwhile, she shows compassion and love towards Jayfeather, and is grief-struck and furious when he is killed by Hollyleaf. Stargleam does not share her mother's worries about public rejection; however, she shows her trust and respect.

Graystripe[]

Graystripe and Gleamstar had a brief, confessional love while the latter was still an apprentice. Gleamstar was determined to complete her prophecy and heroic destiny, but admitted that the tom was kind and funny, and made her feel better. Before she traveled to the Moonpool to receive her nine lives, it is proven that Graystripe is still deeply in love with Gleamstar, although vice versa is unknown.

Firestar[]

Firestar was her mentor, and the latter feels a strong mentor-apprentice connection towards him. He fell in love with her beauty, kindness, and skill, although it is unknown whether she reciprocates these emotions. Gleamstar, however, values him as a mentor, and was willing to risk her life and the lives of her kin to rescue him from Tigerstar and Hollyleaf. Firestar, despite their unusual relationship, seemed to mature throughout the book and return to his original mindset of feeling obligated to rescue others; however, in the beginning chapters, he was willing to almost injure himself for his great-granddaughter's romantic love.

Blackstar[]

Gleamstar, as an apprentice, felt overwhelmed with having two toms madly in love with her. She encountered him after accidentally crossing the ShadowClan border, but otherwise, they had a smoothly one-sided relationship. Blackstar was seriously impressed by her ability to single-handedly hold off his entire camp invasion on her first day as an apprentice; later, he pleaded with her to refuse her leadership ceremony out of his mad obsession. Despite this, Gleamstar feels empathy for him, and is relieved to see him in StarClan instead of the Dark Forest for his crazy-minded actions.

Jazzsong[]

Stargleam and Jazzsong were best friends since birth and have a strong-standing relationship. Gleamstar made her a warrior early and appointed her as deputy despite the fact that she never had an apprentice... but, then again, neither did the beautiful perfection of a leader. Stargleam was annoyed at Jazzstar for approving of the LGBTQ+ relationship between Redfur and Lakepool; however, Stargleam later becomes mates with Jazzstar and gives birth to her three kits: Firekit, Fluffykit, and Tigerkit.

Love Interests[]

Gleamstar's first love interests were Firestar, Graystripe, and Blackstar. In the beginning, she is pressured by both Graystripe and Firestar to pick one of them, before Blackstar confesses his love for her as well, causing her to break down in tears. As we know, having the leader of a rival nation, your already-married great-grandfather, plus an already-married elder just as old as your great-grandfather all be madly obsessed with you is dreadful. She then moves on to Hawkfrost, who she was engaged to before dying. Ashkit was a love interest for a short time before he was caught making out with Hawkfrost out of seemingly nowhere. In later chapters, when the author decided she was a lesbian, Jazzsong became Gleamstar's mate, even though being LGBTQ+ was established to be against the Ten Commandments.
